The HOTH is actually an acronym for Hittem Over The Head. Their company aggressively helps you grow your business with search engine optimization, or SEO for short. So if you’re looking to get more traffic by showing up at the top of Google, look for the furry red mascot, I guess. “When it comes to SEO, there’s a lot of misinformation about what does and doesn’t work,” says Michael Diaz, an Account Manager at The HOTH. Read on for my review.

“Many businesses fail to get results due to ineffective strategies,” Michael continues. “At The HOTH, we’ve done research to determine what works and what doesn’t work. Our strategy has helped hundreds of businesses achieve success with SEO. So, if you’re wanting to enhance your SEO efforts? Here are five tips for success. Number one: define your target audience. This gives you a place to start when planning for your keywords, content, and more. Once you know your target audience, you’ll be better equipped to answer their questions.”

Michael’s second SEO tip is to perform keyword research. Keywords are the foundation of any worthwhile search engine strategy. It’s what your target audience is going to Google and looking up each and every day, basically. So it’s your job to determine what those words and phrases are. You can divide ’em up into two groups: those you’re already targeting and those you haven’t yet gone after. Start with the former, as that’s your lowest-hanging fruit, and then you can expand from there.

“Tip number three,” Michael says, “is to build optimized content. Optimizing your website with relevant content that includes your keywords is essential for success. You need to optimize all of your content on your website. That includes any landing pages you’re using, product descriptions, on down to blog posts. You’ll also wanna make sure your website is easy to navigate and visually appealing. As far as what to write about? Address your customer’s needs. Their questions, their problems. Google loves this.”

Fourth, he recommends you start link building. Besides your on-page content, links are the biggest driving factor that’ll determine where your content ranks. Yeah, SEO is constantly changing, but links have always been (and probably always will be) vital to reaching the top of page one. So build out multiple social media profiles for branded links back to your website. Then go for in-content links, where other sites are linking back to you from within their articles or whatever, right? Last, sprinkle in high-powered links from authority sites, if ya can.

And finally, SEO tip number five, is to meticulously measure your results. “It can take time for your SEO efforts to be reflected in the Google rankings,” Michael admits. “So don’t get discouraged if you don’t get results immediately. Even the most effective SEO strategy can still take a few months to produce noticeable results. By tracking your results you can pinpoint components of your SEO strategy that are working well, while also making note of areas that you can improve upon. At The HOTH, we have plenty of tools to help with this.”

In terms of personal experience, I did try The HOTH a few years back. I was not impressed. Felt like I paid a ton of money for some spammy backlinks that, if anything, only pushed me backwards in my Google rankings. To be fair though, let me reiterate, that was years ago. I’m pretty sure the company was sold to a new owner since then, and so, who knows, maybe their SEO services have done a complete 180 since then. Either way, I always think you’re better off learning this stuff yourself. It’s not that hard. See below.
